That Zombie Horde Level

Conceptualization

Games like LFD2 and Days Gone are awesome, and this level intends to bring the same level of polish and thrill as playing those other games does.

I broke the level up into 3 parts: Introduction, Action, Conclusion, and within each part there exists several beats each with its own purpose for progressing the story, and giving meaning to the level design.

Introduction

Here in the introduction to the level, we begin by gently guiding the player through various learning opportunities that reward the player with the knowledge or abilities to continue playing the level--and most importantly, give them a reason to WANT to keep playing the level.

The Introduction is made up of 5 main events/beats. They are titled: Leaving Camp, The Wooden Bridge, Group Encounter #1, Medical Supplies, and Group Encounter #2.

Action

In the Action stage, the player has been confronted with a "point of no return" where they are forced to prioritize another option to their original plans.  Here, the lost group becomes overran with Zombies and have blocked the path back to the camp. Our main character must head back towards the abandoned town to find another way home.

The Action Stage is made up of 4 main events/beats. They are titled: Re-Entry, The Bridge #1, Plug it In, Did You Turn It On?, and Bridge #2

Conclusion

For the Conclusion, all the player needs to do is survive the zombie horde that is barreling down on them long enough for the bridge to complete its rotation and allow the player to run to the other side of the river, join their fellow survivors and play the cinematic that blows up the bridge.

Easy, right?

The Conclusion is made up of 2 main events/beats. They are titled: Swing This! and Surprise!
